01The principle: nothing leaves by default
Your tracking — progress photos, weight, measurements, goals, reminders — is stored only in a local database (SQLite) on your device, protected by your operating system’s encryption. This data is never sent to our servers, never backed up to a cloud on our initiative, and never accessible to the publisher.
The app requires no account and works offline for everything that matters. There are two exceptions, and only two: the premium “Visual Check-in” feature described in section 03, and the usage statistics described in section 04.
02Data processed locally
- Progress photos you take or import.
- Weight and measurements you enter.
- Goals, milestones and reminder settings.
- Results of the visual check-ins you generate (see section 03).
You stay in full control: every photo, measurement or check-in can be deleted at any time from within the app. Uninstalling the app erases all of this data from the device.
03“Visual Check-in”: the only data that leaves the device
“Visual Check-in” is an optional premium feature that analyzes a photo using artificial intelligence to estimate your body composition (expressed as a range) and describe your posture. It involves processing a photo of your body — sensitive data within the meaning of Article 9 of the GDPR. Accordingly:
- The photo is sent only when you explicitly tap “Analyze.” Nothing is automatic.
- The photo’s location data and metadata are stripped before it is sent.
- The photo travels over an encrypted connection to our relay server, which forwards it to our AI provider (Google Cloud — Vertex AI) to generate the analysis.
- Our server does not keep your photo. The result of the analysis is returned and stored only on your device.
- Your photo is never used to train an AI model.
- The analysis does not identify you and creates no biometric identifier: it only estimates a composition and a posture.
This feature is reserved for people aged 18 and over and requires your explicit consent, collected in the app before any use. This consent can be withdrawn at any time in the settings.
Retention at the AI provider. For its own security and abuse-prevention purposes, our AI provider may retain the transmitted photo for a limited period before deletion. The exact duration and processing region are stated in the app at the time of consent.
Important: “Visual Check-in” is not a medical device, makes no diagnosis, and is no substitute for a healthcare professional’s advice. Estimates are visual and approximate.
04Usage statistics, and no advertising
To understand where the app is hard to use and improve it, we measure usage with PostHog, a product analytics tool whose data is hosted in the European Union. Here is exactly what is sent:
- The screens you visit (for example “onboarding”, “settings”, “subscription page”) and when the app is opened or sent to the background.
- A few key steps: completing onboarding, viewing the subscription offer, along with the goal you picked (build muscle or lose weight), your preferred reminder frequency and how many milestones you created.
- Interface language and theme, app version, device type and screen resolution, plus the country and time zone derived from your IP address — that IP address is not kept, it is discarded as soon as the event is received.
- A random technical identifier, specific to the app, used to link these events together without revealing who you are.
What is never sent to this tool: no photo and no photo address, no weight, no measurement, no height, no BMI, no age, no gender, no name and no email address. Your measurements and pictures stay on your device, as described in sections 01 and 02.
Body Tracker includes no advertising tracker, no advertising identifier and no profiling tool: no Google Analytics, no social network SDK, no ad network. We do not build an advertising profile, sell no data, and share these statistics with no third party other than PostHog, which acts as a processor on our behalf. These statistics are kept for 25 months at most, then deleted.
You can turn this measurement off at any time in the app settings: collection stops immediately and the app keeps working exactly the same.
05Legal bases
- Local tracking: since no data is transmitted to the publisher, there is no processing by us for this part.
- Visual Check-in: your explicit consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a) and Art. 9(2)(a)), collected before each activation and revocable at any time.
- Usage statistics: your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)), collected on first launch and revocable at any time from the settings.
06Your rights
Under the GDPR, you have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection. For tracking data, these rights are exercised directly in the app (viewing and deletion). For any other request, write to us at [email protected]. You may also lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority, the CNIL (www.cnil.fr).
07Changes
This policy may evolve alongside the app. Any substantial change will be flagged to you in the app, and the last-updated date shown at the top of this page will be refreshed.
